It is reported that the Baihetan to Zhejiang ±800kV HVDC transmission project starts from the Baihetan converter station in Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, through Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang and other provinces (cities), and ends at the northern Zhejiang converter station in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. the total investment of the project is 30.7 billion yuan, the total length of the line is 2140.2 kilometers, and the transmission capacity is 8000 megawatts. The project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in July last year, and it took less than 16 months from approval to completion.

CTOnews.com learned that Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. It is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the world, and represents the highest level of hydropower construction in the world.

After the Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully completed and put into operation, it will become the second largest hydropower station in the world after the three Gorges Hydropower Station, with an average annual generating capacity of 62.443 billion kilowatt hours, about 19.68 million tons of standard coal and 52 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
