Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, Nov. 15-there have been thousands of layoffs and resignations at Twitter since Elon Musk took over, but the latest personnel change appears to be personal. Musk has just fired employees who publicly pointed out his mistakes on Twitter.

CTOnews.com learned that the incident began on Sunday, when Mr Musk apologized on Twitter for Twitter's slow performance in many countries and hinted that the poor performance was due to more than 1000 "bad batch" remote procedure calls to load the home page timeline, meaning the app had to contact other servers multiple times and wait for a response to each request. Later, Twitter employee Frohnhoefer responded to Musk that he had spent six years developing an Android version of Twitter, which Musk said was not correct.

Frohnhoefer went on to explain why he thought his boss's statement was incorrect. According to Frohnhoefer, Twitter does not actually make a remote program call (RPC). Instead, about 20 background requests are made when the application starts, he says. As if to clarify his initial tweet, Musk later responded: "you don't realize that when someone uses a Twitter app, as many as 1200 'microservices' are called, which is not good." Frohnhoefer disagreed again, saying that "the number of timelines needed to generate a home page is close to 200, not 1200."

The conversation between Musk and Frohnhoefer is confusing, and the design of Twitter makes it difficult to sort out these conversations. In one of the responses, Musk asked Frohnhoefer what he had personally done to solve the problem of Twitter's slow speed on Android. At the end of the matter, one netizen said that Frohnhoefer should correct his boss in private, not on public platforms. Frohnhoefer replied very harshly that maybe Musk should also ask questions in private, and finally Musk replied: "he's fired."

It is worth mentioning that other Twitter employees also refuted Musk's tweet, and a person who claimed to be the head of Twitter technology retweeted the tweet, saying that Musk did not understand how GraphQL works, did not know how Twitter's infrastructure works, and that people outside Twitter questioned the tweet. Musk said he got information about RPC from several Twitter engineers and said "the former employee was wrong."

It is worth mentioning that Musk has announced that this feature will be cut in the name of performance in the name of which device or application the tweet was posted from.

As for Frohnhoefer himself, he tweeted that it was "absolutely stupid" to fight Musk in his way, although he didn't seem too worried about being fired.
