CTOnews.com, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in an interview with CNN that he intends to donate most of his net worth to charity during his lifetime, most of which will be used to combat climate change or support those who can create "unity" for mankind.

Although Mr Bezos gave few details, he and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, said they were "building the capacity to distribute the wealth to others" and wanted to make the most of the investment.

CTOnews.com learned that Bezos is the fourth richest man in the world, with a net worth of $124 billion (currently about 881.64 billion yuan), according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is known for donating money to charities and scientific research through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and co-founded The Giving Pledge with Warren Buffett to encourage billionaires to donate at least half of their money to public causes.

In 2015, Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg promised to donate 99% of the company's shares to Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, worth $45 billion at the time. The founder of Facebook also signed a donation pledge in 2010.

However, like other technology CEO with large donations, Bezos faces criticism of his company. Amazon has repeatedly opposed climate legislation, and its emissions soared in 2021 despite promises to reduce the impact on the environment. While Bezos believes Amazon needs to treat its employees better, poor warehouse working conditions, at the heart of the problem, emerged during his leadership.
