The production and scientific research base of Southern Power Grid will realize full green electricity consumption and become the zero-carbon headquarters base of central enterprises with the largest scale of green power consumption in China.

The production and scientific research base of Southern Power Grid includes the headquarters of Southern Power Grid, 4 institutions directly under it, and 6 secondary units. The Southern Power Grid will promote the full consumption of green electricity in the production and research base, and create a demonstration zone for the zero-carbon headquarters base of central enterprises by combining the application of green and low-carbon technologies such as ice storage, roof photovoltaic, and energy-efficient buildings, so as to set an industry example for promoting green electricity consumption. As early as April this year, China Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company and Guizhou Power Grid Company have successively subscribed for green power, realizing 100% green electricity consumption in some office spaces. CTOnews.com learned that according to the plan, Southern Power Grid will achieve full coverage of green power consumption in all its units within 2023.

In addition, the Southern Power Grid promotes and serves customers to use green electricity. Since the launch of the national green power trading pilot project, with the guidance and help of relevant state ministries, Guangzhou Power Trading Center has uniformly designed the green power trading system, built a green power trading platform, and the scale of the green power trading market has expanded rapidly. Data show that from January to October this year, the cumulative turnover of green power in the southern region exceeded 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 200 percent over the same period last year.

Southern Power Grid said that the next step will be to strengthen cooperation with various energy companies to steadily expand the scope of green power consumption in the company's system. At the same time, we should sum up the demonstration experience in a timely manner, improve the green power trading mechanism, speed up the construction of a unified power market system in the southern region, promote the construction of a green and low-carbon energy supply system, and achieve the optimal allocation of green power resources on a larger scale. to make new and greater contributions to China's green and low-carbon transformation and development and the promotion of Chinese-style modernization.
