CTOnews.com, November 14, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, lithography giant ASML has announced plans to expand production of EUV and DUV and even the next generation of EUV equipment. The industry expects that from the perspective of customer applications, the demand for wafer foundry is the strongest, especially the investment in advanced process technology is not easy to reduce, which will continue to drive the long-term growth of ASML.

According to ASML, despite the current short-term uncertainty in the overall environment, there is still long-term healthy growth in wafer demand and capacity. ASML noted that strong growth in various markets, continued innovation, competition from more fabs, and competition for technological sovereignty drive the market's demand for advanced and mature processes, thus requiring more wafer capacity.

In terms of production expansion, ASML plans to increase its annual production capacity to 90 EUV and 600 DUV systems (2025-2026) and 20 High-NA EUV systems (2027-2028).

Taiwan media pointed out that at present, most of the big front-line semiconductor manufacturers have pre-purchased High-NA EUV equipment. ASML received orders from major customers from the end of last year to the first half of this year, including the first order for the latest High-NA EUV "EXE:5200" from Intel at the beginning of 2022. Intel aims to put the device into mass production in 2025. The industry speculates that TSMC and Samsung also ordered EXE:5000 devices last year.

According to the financial report, in the third quarter of 2022, ASML achieved net sales of 5.8 billion euros (about 42.572 billion yuan), a gross profit of 51.8 percent and a net profit of 1.7 billion euros (about 12.478 billion yuan). New orders hit an all-time high of 8.9 billion euros (65.326 billion yuan) in the third quarter of this year.

CTOnews.com has learned that ASML expects net sales of about 6.1 billion to 6.6 billion euros in the fourth quarter of 2022, with a gross profit margin of about 49 per cent. Based on the median expected for the fourth quarter, revenue is expected to be about 21.1 billion euros (154.874 billion yuan) in 2022. Revenue deferred to 2023 from the fast shipping process in 2022 is expected to be about 2.2 billion euros (about 16.148 billion yuan).
