CTOnews.com learned that the circular array solar radio imaging telescope is a comprehensive aperture radio telescope composed of 313 antennas with a diameter of 6 meters. The antennas are evenly distributed on the circle with a diameter of 1 km, shaped like a giant "thousand-eye bead."

The project is expected to complete the joint test of the system in June 2023, enter the stage of trial operation, and fully put into scientific research. The telescope works in the radio frequency band of 150MHz-450MHz to observe the solar burst by imaging and spectral observation.

The circular array solar radio imaging telescope can monitor the sun in real time, monitor solar radio flares, and track the formation, evolution and interplanetary process of coronal mass ejection (CME). It plays an important role in exploring the dynamic characteristics and variation laws of solar-terrestrial space environment with high space-time resolution in the second phase of Meridian Project, and will also play an important role in night astronomical research fields such as pulsar search.
