Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com news on November 14, we have heard news reports of incorrect transfer from time to time, but what will you do if your account suddenly increases by 2.9 billion yuan? Crypto.com has just admitted to making a big mistake: about three weeks ago, the company mistakenly transferred 320000 etheric coins (worth no less than 2.9 billion yuan) to Gate.io, another cryptocurrency exchange.

CTOnews.com learned that Crypto.com CEO Chris Marshall (Kris Marszalek) later tweeted that "the company had planned to send the cryptocurrency to its cold wallet (cold wallets), or offline wallet, but accidentally sent it to the whitelist address of its Gate.io account."

Marshall disclosed the address of the company's cold wallet before the erroneous transfer, hoping to increase the transparency of the exchange's use of its funds. After learning more about Crypto.com 's transactions, one user, Conor Grogan, pointed out that the exchange sent 320000 ethernet houses to Gate.io on October 21, accounting for about 80 per cent of the company's ethernet holdings.

Marshall later added that the company was able to recover "all" of the assets that had been mistransferred. Some Twitter netizens confirmed that Crypto.com began to recover the transfer funds about a week after the incident, transferring 285000 etheric coins (worth 2.463 billion yuan) to one wallet and the remaining 35000 etheric coins (worth 302 million yuan) to another wallet.

CTOnews.com learned that Gate.io later issued a response, saying that it began to return funds after it realized that the transfer was an "operational error." But at least this time Crypto.com 's money was actually returned. However, the company also made an erroneous transfer in August, in which a user was supposed to receive a refund of $68, but eventually Crypto.com mistakenly transferred $7.2 million to him, and the company is now asking the user to return the money.

Despite Marshall's assurance that "all our systems are working," many users are exiting the platform as users start to worry about whether Crypto.com will suffer the same fate as FTX and other troubled companies that are now bankrupt.
