While providing peak regulation services for nuclear power and ensuring the operation of nuclear power base load, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup of Fujian power grid to ensure the safety of power grid operation and clean energy consumption.

According to reports, pumped storage is currently recognized as the safest, most stable, most mature, most environmentally friendly and most economical way of energy storage, with the characteristics of large energy storage capacity, high storage efficiency, flexible operation, and rapid response. It can complement nuclear power, wind power, solar power, and so on.

The data show that Yunxiao pumped storage power station is currently the largest pumped storage power station under construction in Fujian Province, with a designed installed capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts and six 300000 kilowatt mixed-flow reversible energy storage units. After the completion of the power station, it can save about 1.1385 million tons of thermal power coal consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2.4705 million tons per year.
