Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
According to news on November 13, since Facebook's parent company Meta announced that it would cut 13% of its workforce, many employees have targeted Mark Zuckerberg, the company's chief executive, on the anonymous forum Blind, making a lot of negative comments about him, such as saying that his meta-universe project is dragging Meta into a chronic death.
On the day Meta announced the layoffs, a lot of people commented on Blind. A user claiming to be a senior software developer posted: "Meta Universe is dragging us into chronic death. Zuckerberg can bring down a company on his own." One user compared the job cuts to a "hunger game", while another said "the future of Meta is uncertain".
Employees can express their dissatisfaction with their employers anonymously on Blind. But before joining, users must provide their work email address, job title and employer so that Blind can "evaluate" the authenticity of the post. However, sometimes the employment situation of users has not been officially confirmed. Blind says it occasionally sends prompts to users asking them to revalidate their accounts.
Rick Chen, director of public relations at Blind, explained: "almost all the comments on our platform are written by current employees of various companies because people are usually unable to access Blind after they are fired or resigned."
Since 2020, Meta employees have posted nearly 6000 comments about the company on Blind, with a rating of 4 stars (out of 5 stars).
A self-proclaimed Meta engineer gave the company a five-star rating, citing "talented colleagues", a "great corporate culture" and a long "benefit list". But on the day of the layoffs, the engineer added that Zuckerberg was leading the company in the wrong direction.
One user who identified himself as a Meta data scientist said Meta needed layoffs at the executive level, adding: "the leadership has no clue and they mistook the wrong actions for progress."
A self-proclaimed recruiter gave Meta a four-star rating. He acknowledged that the company was "one of the best places to work", adding that "Zuckerberg is not afraid to take risks (which is both a good thing and a bad thing)."
Another poster, who claimed to be a senior technical project manager, wrote: "Bad leadership is sinking the ship." He acknowledges that Meta has the advantages of "high salary", benefits and talent, but there are also many "shortcomings", including "there is no accountability at director level and above, and vice presidents and directors are just squeezing the company's profits without adding any value."
He added: "I thought it was a data-driven company, but in fact it was driven by personal intuition and emotion. No one can change Zuckerberg's decision."
However, not all Meta employees have a negative view of Zuckerberg. A former employee who was recently laid off said he found Zuckerberg's handling of the layoffs "very humane."
Another engineer rated the company only one star and described the massive layoffs as "the worst layoffs in history". "in the case of major layoffs, I would not advise anyone to work there until the share price has fully recovered," he said. "
