CTOnews.com, November 12, according to the China manned Space Engineering Office, the Tianzhou V cargo spacecraft successfully completed state setting after it went into orbit. At 12:10 on November 12, 2022, Beijing time, it adopted the mode of autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking successfully at the space station sky and core module rear ports. Chinese astronauts greeted the cargo spacecraft's visit at the space station for the first time. After the rendezvous and docking is completed, Tianzhou V will be transferred to the flight segment of the assembly.

During this mission, a two-hour autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking was achieved for the first time, setting a world record. This technological breakthrough is of great significance to improve the level of space rendezvous and docking in China and to improve the emergency supplies supply capability of the space station mission.

The Tianzhou V cargo spacecraft is the first visiting aircraft after the completion of the third cabin of China's space station, docking with the "T" configuration combination (including radial docking manned spacecraft) for the first time, with a docking target of 80 tons. This is also the first time that China has implemented cargo spacecraft rendezvous and docking under the condition that the space station is manned, and has the backup capability of manual teleoperation rendezvous and docking mission in case of failure, thus improving the reliability of the close rendezvous process.

CTOnews.com learned that the Tianzhou V cargo ship is a fully sealed cargo ship, which has the largest cargo transport capacity and the most comprehensive in-orbit support capacity in the world. About 6.7 tons of uplink materials, the spacecraft carried more than 5.2 tons of cargo from astronaut systems, space station systems, space applications and experimental loads, and carried 1.4 tons of additional propellant, which will provide material support for Shenzhou 15 crew members to stay in orbit for six months, space station assembly and space applications.
