CTOnews.com, November 12 (Xinhua) McLaren's new CEO and former Ferrari chief technology officer, Michael Letters (Michael Leiters), said that McLaren will not launch a pure electric supercar for the time being, but plans to build an all-electric car and SUV to compete with Porsche Taycan, which is part of McLaren's electrification plan.

Letters revealed in an interview with the Automotive Daily that when he took over McLaren from his predecessor, CEO Mike Flewitt, there was no shock. "some things got worse, some things got better." He added: some areas are as bad as he expected, and quality is the most important.

"what I heard from my team is that in the past, we accepted an immature product and released it and delivered it to our customers. Artura was the first project we didn't do. We didn't think the car was mature, so we stopped delivering it. This may hurt the company's financial position, but I think it's important."

Although sports models and supercars drawn by ▲ overseas media will still be at the core of McLaren's product strategy, Letters will also guide the company towards electrification, a goal that has begun to emerge from the hybrid Artura.

CTOnews.com learned that McLaren will build a supercar in the future to compete with Lutes Evija, but Letters doesn't think its technology is advanced enough, so he plans to focus his team on more traditional electric cars.

Letters believes that any electric McLaren should strictly inherit the brand's DNA and lightweight concept, but it also needs a high price of at least 200,000 pounds / $350000, which he believes should be McLaren's entry point. "We need to focus on profitability, not sales."
