Existing users have found that Tesla has changed the steering wheel manual detection algorithm in the latest 2022.40 version, and can no longer turn on Autopilot for a long time by pressing a bottle of mineral water on the steering wheel to achieve what they consider to be "autopilot."

CTOnews.com learned that Tesla's FSD is still limited to North America for testing, and the Autopilot currently in use can only be said to be an L2-level driving assistance system. Drivers need to keep their attention and put their hands on the steering wheel. When the driver's hands are off the steering wheel or when the pressure is less than a certain value, it will sound an "alarm" until it detects pressure on the steering wheel.

When the Autopilot function is turned on and the speed is less than 45 mph, drive on a straight road and get your hands off the steering wheel for 5 minutes, there will be an "alarm"; if there is a bend, take into account the lateral acceleration, refer to the situation of "more than 45 mph".

In other words, when you turn on Autopilot for a period of time, you have to put some pressure on the steering wheel, otherwise there will be frequent "alarms", so smart users thought that they could put their hands on the steering wheel with something else instead of hands, so they wouldn't keep issuing warnings.

According to the release notes published by Tesla, version 2022.40.4 has been optimized and adjusted in the following areas:

Sentinel mode and pet mode will be muted when activated at the same time

The media player will add an icon to display the radio station

Improve the efficiency of thermal management system and improve the speed of DC charging

The limited vehicle will compensate the mechanical braking force during kinetic energy recovery.

Pressing the door switch of the main driver in the car will unlock all the doors.

New tire replacement and rotation reset learning function

After turning on the automatic headlight function, the taillight will now be on.

Delete the function of viewing traffic recorder data in the car (Hong Kong)

Remote Sentinel mode access is supported in more areas
