According to the three Gorges Group, Hubei Yuanan pumped Storage Power Station, located in Hualinsi Town, Yuan'an County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, is a key project in the country's medium-and long-term pumped Storage Development Plan (2021-2035). It is also a key construction project in the 14th five-year Plan for Energy Development in Hubei Province.

This conversion process has solved the problem that it has always been difficult to store electric energy. Therefore, the pumped storage power station can also be called a super "portable battery".

According to reports, Hubei Yuan'an pumped Storage Power Station is mainly composed of upper reservoir, water conveyance system, powerhouse power generation system, lower reservoir and other buildings, and plans to install four single-stage mixed-flow reversible pump-turbine units with a single unit capacity of 300000 kilowatts, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts.

In addition, after the completion of the power station, the estimated annual generating capacity is 1.23 billion kilowatt-hours, which mainly undertakes the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation, energy storage and emergency reserve of Hubei power grid.
