CTOnews.com, Nov. 11 (Xinhua)-- Andy Jassy, CEO of US tech giant Amazon, is leading a cost-cutting review of the company and scaling back its unprofitable businesses, affecting voice assistant Alexa, robotics, retail and other divisions, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Some sources say the cost-cutting review will last for several months. As part of the review, Amazon has told some non-profit employees to look for jobs in other positions in the company because the team they work on is being suspended or shut down.

Us media pointed out that Amazon's approach contrasts with the company's large-scale expansion during the epidemic. From the end of 2019 to the end of 2021, Amazon employed more than 800,000 people, mainly in its hundreds of warehouses, to keep up with the surge in online orders.

During that time, Amazon also spent more than $10 billion on a robotic equipment maker, a film and television studio and a primary health care company. Sources say Amazon is continuing to invest in business areas it believes have growth potential, such as health care.
