Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, November 11 (Xinhua)-- Intel has quietly launched its Optane SSD DC P5810X solid-state drive, which may be its last 3D XPoint memory-based storage device, and Intel officially shut down its arrogant business earlier this year.
CTOnews.com learned that Intel's Optane SSD DC P5810X series is currently available in both 400GB and 800GB versions, with a 2.5-inch U.2 form factor, a PCIe 4.0x4 interface, continuous read speeds up to 7200MBps, and continuous write speeds up to 5400MBps (800GB version) or 6000MBps (400GB). In terms of random read / write performance, the hard disk can reach 1.5m / 1.38m IOPS with a read / write delay of 5 microseconds.
Of course, the main selling point of the new hard drive is the durability of its 100DWPD, which can write 40000 GB per day for five consecutive years, which is unmatched by traditional 3D NAND-based products, which is why the armor launched XL-NAND and Samsung launched Z-NAND (and still can't match the durability of Intel's Optane DC).
Intel's Optane SSD DC P5810X series belongs to the hard drive series codenamed Alder Stream, and the P5800X series has been launched before, so the new product is expected to use similar master and 3D XPoint storage media, and it is unclear how Intel plans to position the new P5810X solid state drive with the existing P5800X hard drive.
During its earnings call in the second quarter of this year, Intel confirmed that it would formally close the Aoton business, a move that would result in a write-down of $559 million, the sixth non-core business to be spun off by Pat Kilsinger (Pat Gelsinger) as Intel CEO. Intel gradually watered down its Aoteng business, starting with the sale of its NAND flash memory and storage business to SK Hynix, although it still retained the relevant technology and enterprise product line, but as its partner Micron sold its 3D XPoint flash chip factory in Lehi, Utah, Intel lost its only production facility, darkening the outlook for Aoton's business. It was previously reported that the Aoteng business lost $576 million in 2020, and it is estimated that the loss in 2021 may also be about $529 million.
