CTOnews.com November 11 news, MediaTek today released Pentonic 1000 high-end TV chip, supporting 4K 120Hz HDR display.

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports Dolby Horizon IQ and can even process multiple Dolby Horizon streams in parallel. In addition, the chip allows the TV to display up to eight video streams at the same time.

In terms of games, MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports variable refresh rate input up to 4K 144Hz and has automatic low latency mode (standard defined by HDMI). In addition, the chip can stream games from the cloud through a built-in low-latency Wi-Fi 6max 6e connection.

In terms of video decoding, MediaTek Pentonic 1000 is the first to support the upcoming H.266 format, namely VVC format. The chip also supports HEVC, VP9, AVS3 and AV1, as well as Dolby panoramic sound (Dolby Atmos) and Dolby horizon (Dolby Vision).

In terms of interfaces, MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports HDMI 2.1FRL 48Gbps and up to four USB interfaces.

CTOnews.com learned that MediaTek said that the first televisions with Pentonic 1000 are expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2023.
