Apple doesn't provide release notes for AirTag updates, so it doesn't know what's new in this update.

The user cannot force an update of the AirTag firmware because the update is done through the connected iPhone OTA. To ensure that updates can be made, you can put AirTag in the scope of the iPhone connection, then have to wait for the firmware to update to AirTag, and you can check the current AirTag firmware version through the "Find My" application.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple will provide the firmware update in a "scrolling" manner, which will be pushed to AirTag users from today until December 1. This staggered push allows Apple to make sure it works as expected before providing firmware updates to all users.
