Jinshuihe pumped Storage Power Station is located in Yueba Town, Foping County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, with an installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts and a designed average annual generating capacity of about 1.9 billion kilowatt hours. It is a daily regulated pure pumped storage power station. It is a key project of the 14th five-year Plan in Shaanxi Province. After completion, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency reserve in Shaanxi power grid, which will improve the peak regulation and rapid response capacity of the power system, and further improve the quality of power supply of the power network. it plays an important role in maintaining the safety, stability and economic operation of the power grid.

CTOnews.com learned that pumped storage power stations can make use of the natural drop between upper and lower reservoirs according to the law of peak and valley of power use. when the power load is low, they can use electricity to pump water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir, which can be effectively stored, and the stored potential energy can be converted into electricity needed by users at the peak of electricity consumption.
