Rapidus comes from Latin, meaning "fast". Rapidus mainly aims to mass-produce advanced semiconductors below 2 nanometers that have not yet been used in practice worldwide.

According to reports, the new company will carry out artificial intelligence, intelligent city construction and other related high-end chip development, and plans to achieve mass production in 2027.

CTOnews.com learned that each company will invest about 1 billion yen ($6.8 million) in the new company, while the Japanese government will also support the project through subsidies, and the new company will further attract investment and cooperation from other companies.
