CTOnews.com, Nov. 10, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, today, MediaTek, a major mobile phone chip maker, disclosed its financial data for October 2022. Data show that MediaTek earned NT $33.384 billion (about 7.612 billion yuan) in October, falling behind the 40 billion mark, the lowest since March 2021, down 40.99% from the previous month and 10.77% from a year earlier.

In addition, MediaTek's cumulative revenue in the first 10 months of this year was 473.986 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 108.069 billion yuan), an increase of 17.86 percent over the same period last year. MediaTek said channels and customer inventories were lower than in the previous quarter, but most customer orders were still conservative and customer inventory adjustments were expected to peak in the current quarter.

CTOnews.com learned that MediaTek CEO Tsai Li-hang had previously said that revenue in the fourth quarter was expected to be about 108 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 24.408 billion yuan) to 119.4 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 26.984 billion yuan), a month-on-month decrease of 16 percent, a year-on-year decrease of 7 percent, 16 percent and a gross profit margin of about 47 percent.

According to the financial report, MediaTek's consolidated revenue in the third quarter was 142.161 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 32.128 billion yuan), a decrease of 8.7 percent from a month earlier and an increase of 8.4 percent over the same period last year. The cumulative performance in the first three quarters was 440.601 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 99.576 billion yuan), an increase of 20.7 percent over the same period last year.
