CTOnews.com, November 10 (Xinhua)-- IBM launched the 2022 IBM Quantum Summit on Wednesday, local time, announcing new breakthroughs in quantum hardware and software and outlining its groundbreaking vision for quantum-centric supercomputing.

IBM announced that it has made a more powerful quantum computing chip, taking another step towards building a quantum machine that can provide commercial value to enterprises.

According to reports, the 433-qubit Osprey chip was unveiled at the IBM's annual quantum summit in New York, and its qubit number is more than three times that of the 127qubit Eagle chip launched last year (about 341%).

In addition, to solve the problem of interference in quantum computers, IBM has released a Beta update of Qiskit Runtime software, which now includes allowing users to use a simple option in API in exchange for speed to reduce errors to help correct errors and alleviate problems.

CTOnews.com learned that IBM also launched the company's next-generation quantum system, IBM Quantum System 2. The system adopts modular design and combines multiple processors into a single system with communication links.

It is said that the goal of the system is to be online by the end of 2023 and will become a quantum-centric supercomputing cluster, so as to cope with the next wave of quantum computing and increase its computing power by adopting modular architecture and quantum communication. and use hybrid cloud middleware to seamlessly integrate quantum and classical workflows.

IBM says that by connecting three of these systems, it can build a system with up to 16632 qubits.

In other areas, IBM also showcases ecological content such as new IBM Quantum Safe technologies, customers, and ecosystem expansion.

Dr. Dar í o Gil, Senior Vice President and Research Director of IBM, said: "the new 433 qubit 'Osprey' processor brings us one step closer to the fact that quantum computers will be used to solve previously unsolvable problems.

We are constantly expanding and advancing our quantum technology across hardware, software and classic integration to meet the greatest challenges of our time, together with our partners and global customers. This work will prove to be the foundation of the future quantum-centric supercomputing era.

When we push the size of the Osprey chip to the limit, if you look closely, you will find that it is already very large. Next year, there will be a lot of 1000 qubits.

Since then, we have been designing and building an entire architecture based on modular quantum computing.
