CTOnews.com November 10 news, SK Hynix said on the 9th that it has completed the development of a low-power dual-data-rate LPDDR5X chip based on high-k metal gate (HKMG) technology and started sales. According to reports, the chip is the industry's first mobile DRAM based on HKMG innovation.

This is the first time that SK Hynix has adopted the HKMG process on the mobile DRAM, achieving a 33% faster 8.5Gbps than the previous generation and significantly reducing power consumption.

CTOnews.com learned that the power consumption of the new generation of LPDDR5X chips is 25% lower than that of the previous generation, meeting the ultra-low voltage range of 1.01V to 1.12V set by JEDEC, which can achieve the highest power efficiency and more power saving in the industry.

As far as mobile chips are concerned, power consumption is the most important consideration. After all, the battery life of mobile phones is limited, so in order to extend their use time as much as possible, major manufacturers are trying to ensure performance while reducing their power consumption as much as possible.
