CTOnews.com, Nov. 9, Microsoft released a new feature update for Edge Dev Channel, upgraded to 109.0.1481.0, including a new switch for Internet Explorer mode, an option to open sidebar games in a new tab, and several improvements to WebView2 (recently released WinUI 2). CTOnews.com learned that the update also included many fixes and minor improvements.

Here are the updates

The switch to open the page in compatible view has been added to the add page prompt for the Internet Explorer mode page.

Added a button to open in the new tab in the sidebar game.

WebView2

Added support for file upload in UWP

IDL validator tool has been added.

The reliability is improved.

Repair and improvement

Fixed an issue where the auto-populate account selection menu did not enter a certificate.

Fixed browser crash that automatically populated dialog boxes when using arrow keys to navigate to the cross button or pressing Tab or Shift + Delete keys when the focus was on the cross button.

Fixed browser crash when using find pages in PDF browsers.

Fixed a sidebar problem that caused the browser to crash.

Fixed an issue where the browser crashed when checking out your profile in the workspace.

Fixed a crash related to the sidebar.

Fixed browser crash related to HDR video.

Fixed crash when navigating to some websites.

Fixed browser crash when clicking the performance button after closing the child mode window.

Fixed browser crash when entering or exiting full screen.

Fixed crash issues related to recommended updates.

Fixed browser crash related to support for home page buttons.

Fixed crash when interacting with visual search results.

IOS

Fixed browser crash at startup.

Fixed browser crash related to notifications.

Android

Fixed browser crash when bold type was enabled in Android settings.

MacOS

Fixed browser crash related to account synchronization.

WebView2

Fixed a crash when clicking the thumbnail view on the taskbar and moving the focus to the WebView2 window.

Fixed visual hosting crash in Windows 10 first anniversary update and earlier version.

Users can download Microsoft Edge Dev from the official Edge Insider website. The browser can be used on Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11), macOS, Linux, Android and iOS (closed test). Microsoft plans to release Edge 109 to the public in the week of January 12, 2023.
