CTOnews.com, November 9, 2008. Earlier today, Microsoft released security updates for Windows 11, Windows 10, and Tuesday patches for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 in November 2022.

Along with the release of the Windows 10 "Tuesday patch", Microsoft also released a reminder that the Windows 10 21H1 version (Windows 10Mar May 2021 update) is about to reach EOS (end of service).

Microsoft cautioned: "it is important that all Windows 10 version 21H1 will be discontinued on December 13, 2022. After December 13, 2022, these devices will not receive monthly security and quality updates. Subsequent updates include protection against the latest security threats. In order to continue to receive security and quality updates, we recommend updating to the latest version of Windows."

Mabel Gomes, a senior communications project manager at Microsoft, posted an article on the Microsoft Technology Community Forum today to remind users of this. Although Windows 10 21H1 devices will be automatically updated to the latest supported Windows version (unless they are blocked by users in some way), Microsoft also reminds people that Windows 11 supports upgrades if they are eligible devices. Microsoft has mentioned the recent Windows 11 22H2 feature updates several times throughout the post, and the company seems to want more Windows 10 users to get on the Windows 11 train.

"We will automatically update devices nearing the end of their service period to the latest version of Windows 10, but you can also choose to upgrade eligible devices to Windows 11.

Microsoft keeps reminding users to upgrade Windows 11 for a reason. CTOnews.com has learned that the latest data show that only 15% of users upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
