According to officials, dawning ParaStor liquid-cooled storage system combines the cold plate liquid cooling scheme with higher heat transfer efficiency with storage technology, significantly reducing the working temperature of key components of memory and HDD storage, and greatly reducing heat dissipation power. CTOnews.com has learned that the performance of liquid-cooled storage systems has improved by more than 20 per cent compared to air cooling.

Dawning also deeply optimizes the system software by using technologies such as large proportion erasure code, data re-deletion compression, hard disk partition hibernation, fine power consumption control, etc., on the basis of ensuring capacity and performance, fully improve the utilization of storage resources and minimize the power consumption of the storage system.

At the application level, dawning ParaStor liquid-cooled storage system flexibly configures a variety of scenarios. For high-performance and small-scale application scenarios, dawning ParaStor liquid-cooled storage system provides all-flash configuration, while for medium-and large-scale application scenarios, it provides a more cost-effective hybrid flash configuration.

With the same origin as dawning liquid-cooled server technology, in order to facilitate the unified planning, design and sharing of data center infrastructure, dawning ParaStor liquid-cooled storage system can conveniently and efficiently form a "storage one-stack" liquid cooling scheme with liquid-cooled servers, which can not only improve the efficiency of operation and maintenance, but also help data center deployment more convenient.

According to the data, the power consumption of the storage system accounts for about 35% of the total power consumption of the data center IT equipment system, second only to the server energy consumption. Dawning said that the "deposit and calculation one-stack" liquid cooling scheme could reduce the PUE value of the data center to less than 1.1. Taking the power consumption of EB data centers as an example, compared with air-cooled storage, liquid-cooled storage can save 4.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, reduce CO2 emissions by 1493 tons, and support the annual electricity consumption of 2812 households, which is equivalent to planting 82957 trees.

What is PUE? Power use efficiency (PUE,power usage effectiveness) is used to determine data center energy efficiency metrics. Power efficiency is calculated by dividing the total amount of electricity entering the data center by the amount of electricity used to run the computer infrastructure in the data center. Therefore, the power use efficiency is expressed in the form of ratio, and when the quotient is close to 1, the overall efficiency is improved. Power efficiency is established by members of Green Grid, an industry organization that focuses on energy efficiency in data centers. Data center infrastructure efficiency (DCIE) is the reciprocal of power efficiency, expressed as a percentage, and the closer the ratio is to 100%, the higher the overall efficiency.
