CTOnews.com Nikon Corporation today announced the launch of a compact and lightweight prime lens Nikkor Z 40mm f / 2 (SE) compatible with full-frame/ FX format micro-single digital cameras with Nikon Z mount.

The Nikkor Z 40mm f / 2 (SE) is a compact, lightweight, fixed-focus lens with a traditional design that matches the Nikon Z fc body. "(SE)" in the product name is an abbreviation for "Special Edition." This lens inherits the design of the classic Nikkor lens released at the same time as the Nikon FM2 film SLR camera, such as the knurled control ring. The Nikkor Z 40mm f / 2 (SE) expands the selection of lenses that match the traditional design of the Z fc.

The optical properties of the Nikkor Z 40mm f / 2 (SE) are identical to those of the Nikkor Z 40mm f / 2. Users can easily enjoy beautiful circular blurred image expressions with f / 2 constant maximum aperture. The lens is about 45.5mm in length and weighs about 170g. It is small in size and light in weight, making it easy to carry around. The lens's 40mm focal length provides a highly versatile viewing angle for a wide variety of scenes and subjects, including portraits with blur effects, snapshot shots and still shots. When used with APS-C size/ DX format cameras such as Z fc, this lens provides medium telephoto viewing angles comparable to 60mm lenses (35mm [135] format) to highlight the main subject.
