The "call of Duty" joint snack pasted the reward code on the outside of the package, and as a result, it was all taken away.

The little raccoon knows to hide the card in the package.

The linkage between game manufacturers and the food industry is hardly news. Such as "Halo", "call of Duty" and other European and American shooting game time-honored brands, every time to launch a series of new works, it is necessary to bring goods.

These games often encourage players to make full use of their spending power by giving away in-game props, skin, experience rewards, and so on. trick them into going to a fast-food chain to order a specific package that is more expensive than usual (but it won't let players shout slogans that could lead to social death), or go to retail stores to snack up energy drinks and snacks that they don't necessarily need.

Call of Duty: modern Warfare Ⅱ 2022 (call of Duty 19), the linked ad for Halo: infinite, has held at least two similar joint events just a week after its release.

The first activity is the linkage with Burger King. To celebrate the launch of the game, Burger King launched a linkage package, in which players will be given a string of exchange codes containing a set of skin of "Burger Town" characters (agents) that are not available in other ways. and an hour-long double experience token.

Out-of-print skin is attractive, but experience tokens are equally important to the core players of call of Duty.

Call of Duty is not an equal competitive game, and high-level players have an advantage. Weapons and skills in the game should be gradually unlocked as the level rises. If you have a sufficient number of double experience tokens at the beginning of the game, you can hit the full level as soon as possible, crush most players on the equipment, and get a good game experience.

From serious players to scalpers, many people are aware of the business opportunities. They sold the code on eBay, a shopping and auction site, and the price remained between $10 and $20, rising to $40 (289.14 yuan) on the eve of the sale. Because the campaign failed to launch in the United States, call of Duty's biggest market, the code could still be sold even if the price was raised.

As if to take care of the mood of American players, the second event of call of Duty 19 was held only in the United States. The brand involved this time is Jack Link (Jack Link's), which specializes in snacks such as jerky.

Green packaging is "spicy turnip dried pork jerky" players need to go to Jack Link's designated Wal-Mart supermarket in the United States to buy several limited jerky products on the market after the game launch, worth between $5 and $10. Each bag of jerky will provide a code valid for 1 year, which can only be used after Jack Link's official website is associated with the game account. A small bag of jerky will provide a 15-minute double experience token; a large bag of jerky will provide a 30-minute token.

Each code is also given to players at random from exclusive business cards, badges, weapon pendants, and a set of characters in Geely suits. Fortunately, all props except tokens have an one-time limit on the number of times they can get, and players only need to buy 4 bags of arbitrary jerky to collect all the exclusive content.

This hairy savage is Jack Link's mascot. This is not the first time Jack Link has been associated with call of Duty. But the person who designed this linkage obviously underestimated the fanaticism and human evil of call of Duty players and made a low-level mistake:

They printed the code on a small piece of paper and pasted it on the outside of the jerky package. As long as it is not found, anyone can remove the code card on the package so that they do not have to buy any jerky.

On Nov. 4, self-media ModernWarzone shared a video on Twitter to show how easy it is to tear a coded note from the package. Some netizens accused them of "making things worse", and they made the following excuse: "this store is the fifth store in my area and the first store where the exchange code can be found."

Reddit's "call of Duty" section has also received frustrating reports. Players of the report said that there was an ample supply of jerky in their local stores, but all the cards on the jerky packaging were missing. For example, a netizen named AngryWarBear claimed that he had checked "167bags" of jerky at a Wal-Mart and could not find a note.

There are obvious tear marks on the bag and corresponding to these reports, eBay has a batch of exchange codes on the shelves. The price of a single code remains between $14 and $17, which is more expensive than a large bag of jerky. Four code bindings are more common, with an average price of about $60 (about 433.52 yuan), and some users have already had nearly 200 transactions, which means that the code stickers on nearly 800 bags of jerky have not properly fallen into the hands of players.

It is not known whether a large number of code stickers were stolen by unscrupulous customers or staff in the supply chain, and call of Duty and Jack Link officials have not yet explained the matter.

The previous "halo" linkage also has a precedent of destroying food packaging and forcibly unscrewing the lid of beverage bottles, thus stealing the exchange code. But no Halo sells better than today's call of Duty 19, and linked manufacturers are not stupid enough to expose the exchange code outside the package, and the impact is naturally not as bad as this time.

However, according to the follow-up feedback from some players, Jack Link is making some remedies to compensate for the exchange code for players who can provide proof or receipt for the purchase of jerky.

The related posts on Reddit also set off a small wave of barter. The linked exchange code does not limit the area where players can use it, so a group of American netizens and a group of non-American netizens are willing to exchange the two exchange codes.

Because Reddit is not a serious trading platform, and scalpers may also participate in the transaction, so such a deal may not necessarily come to an end, and we can only hope that those players who really love call of Duty will eventually get what they need.

Someone is willing to trade two Burger King codes for Jack Link's exclusive Geely suit skin.
