CTOnews.com, November 9 (Xinhua)-- Audi launched the E-Tron Electric SUV in 2018, and the carmaker chose to simply call it E-Tron because it was its only electric vehicle. Now an updated version of the car has been released and renamed Q8 E-Tron.

CTOnews.com learned that the Q8 E-Tron is also available in two body styles: Q8 E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron Sportback, which is a sedan sport. Offer 50, 55 and SQ8 models, standard all-wheel drive, SQ8 equipped with three motors, is the fastest of the three models.

Audi's Q8 E-Tron S has two motors to power the rear axle and one to power the front axle, generating 496 horsepower (370kW) and 717lb-ft (973Nm) of torque. It can sprint to 62 mph (100 km / h) in 4.5 seconds, which is also the fastest model, with a top speed of 130 mph (210 km / h).

The 55 model is equipped with dual motors, a combined power output of 402 horsepower (300 kW), a peak torque of 490 lb-ft (664 Nm), and can accelerate to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds. The car with the lowest power is 50, its power output is slightly lower than 55, it is 335 horsepower (250 kW), and the torque output is the same. It takes six seconds to accelerate to 62 mph, with a top speed of 124 mph (200 km / h).

Audi says it has improved battery technology in these vehicles and now their energy density is about 20% higher than before. The 55 and S models have larger battery packs with a total capacity of 114 kilowatt hours, while the 50 model will be equipped with a smaller 95 kilowatt hour battery pack.

With the makeover, Audi has also reduced the wind resistance of the vehicle, which is lower for the Q8 Sportback, which allows it to travel up to 373mph on a charge, compared with 360mph for the SUV. In the case of a smaller battery version, the Q8 is expected to have a range of 298 miles (480km), while the Q8 Sportback is expected to have a range of 311miles (500km). These figures are based on WLTP operating conditions.

Q8 E-Tron comes with an 11 kilowatt car charger, which can be upgraded to 22 kilowatts. Vehicles with smaller battery packs will be able to charge DC quickly at 150 kilowatts, while vehicles with larger battery packs can be upgraded to 170 kilowatts; it will take 28 minutes for small batteries to charge to 80% and 31 minutes for large batteries.

The appearance of the new car has not changed much, but Audi says the design of the front and rear of the car has been changed. This is the first Audi car with a redesigned four-ring Logo, and the new Logo is now flatter. Inside, the car uses new interior materials, seat belt buckles made of recycled materials, new infotainment screens and new sports seats covered with Dinamica microfibers.

Audi will start delivering the Q8 E-Tron in early 2023, first in Europe and then in the United States. The exact price has not yet been announced.
