If you use a backup control file, or if it is not fully restored, you must use the RESETLOGS option to open the database.

This option does the following in the system. 1. Reset the log and start from scratch, with the serial number starting from 1. Archive the current online redo log, and after archiving, reset the serial number to 1 # 2. If the online log does not exist, rebuild the online redo log. 3. Update the information in the control file. 4. Update all files with a new SCN number to start.

For example, because we have opened the database in RESETLOG mode, at this time we go to the directory to look at the format of the archive files generated before and after the session 1:alter system switch logfile;.
