The original title: "it is necessary to commemorate, but it is more necessary to quarrel!" Bills with missing words can be brought back to life with this trick. "

I like watching movies, and I also have the habit of collecting movie ticket stubs. As far as I am concerned, the movie ticket stub is a witness to my past film and television journey and life.

But one day, when I opened the box where the movie ticket stub was stored, there was a scene like this:

The faded movie ticket stub? what about the author's shooting word? What kind of movie are you watching this one? What year is this footprint? I seem to be missing a corner of my memory.

Is there any way to make these words come to light again?

The thermal paper is good, but we can't see clearly. In addition to the movie stubs in our collection, we may also face other similar situations in our daily life. For example, when we need to get a receipt and negotiate with the merchant, the word on the receipt is gone. For example, when we need to figure out the paper bill with our ex who broke up, the word is gone again.

In fact, documents such as movie tickets and supermarket tickets are usually printed on thermal paper. This printing method does not require extra ink, but the chromogenic material is applied to the paper and then locally heated and coated to make the handwriting appear.

There are two key components for thermal paper to develop: one is a leuco dye, which is a colorless changeable dye in its initial state, and the other is a chromogenic agent, which reacts with a leuco dye when heated to change its structure into a colored form.

There are many kinds of leuco dyes, one commonly used in thermal paper is crystal violet lactone, which reacts with acid chromogenic agent to produce color.

Crystal Violet Lactone, a discoloration dye commonly used in thermal paper, has its colorless form on the left and the chromogenic form after heating and acid reaction on the right. American Chemical Society does not require a very high heating temperature for the thermal paper coating to react, and even the friction heat generated by the fingernails across the paper can cause discoloration-we often see restaurant staff use this method to mark dishes that have already been served on the bill.

Thermal paper printing has the advantages of cheap and fast, and the required printing equipment is also very small, so it is very favored by businesses. However, the colored material produced by this method is not very stable, and it will always slowly change the structure again and change back to a colorless state.

Can you make it not fade? The wish is good, but the fading of thermal paper can be said to be an inevitable trend of chemical reaction. The fading can be slowed down by improving the coating formula and preservation conditions, but it is still not enough to prevent the fading completely.

If you want to keep the thermal paper for as long as possible, pay attention to the following points:

Avoid dampness and do not let paper come into contact with water, grease or organic solvents.

Keep it in the dark, especially from direct sunlight.

Keep away from high temperature, the storage temperature had better not exceed 25 ℃.

Exposure to solvents such as alcohol will quickly make the words on the thermal paper disappear. The author shoots, but perhaps the most important thing is that you have to accept the fact that thermal paper will always fade. Even if it is properly preserved (even in a sealed refrigerator), the handwriting on the thermal paper may only last for a few years.

If the information on the paper is really important, you'd better take a picture or scan and archive it as soon as possible.

If the word is gone, can you get it back? Can the thermal paper that has completely faded be reprinted? It's really possible, and the method is very simple.

To restore the color of thermal paper, we need a safe heating source, electric iron or electric splint for straightening hair is a good choice. Turn on the heating source, clip the faded thermal paper with tweezers, stick the back to the heating surface, and heat it carefully.

Wait a moment and you will see that the thermal paper as a whole has turned dark. Against the dark background, the place where the handwriting was originally printed is now relatively lighter, and the content of the handwriting will be revealed. This method is not guaranteed to display clear handwriting, but it works well in many cases.

During operation, you should pay attention to prevent burns, and do not use open fire. After heating, the handwriting can remain stable for a period of time, but the color will still fade slowly, so remember to take pictures and file after displaying the words.

Word display effect | Why does the part of the printed handwriting look whiter than the surrounding after the overall heating and discoloration taken by the author? I don't have an exact explanation for this. According to my guess, this may be due to the partial melting of the coating when printing handwriting, resulting in a change in the surface structure and light reflection.

It seems that the handwriting of my treasured movie tickets will eventually fade away, which is a sad thing. However, on second thought, the good memories engraved in my mind will not disappear so easily, because it is an audio-visual feast that I have personally experienced.
