A few days ago, HDC2022 Huawei Developer Conference is being held. During the conference, Huawei held "Huawei Mobile Innovation Technology Media Communication Meeting." At the communication meeting, Bruce Lee, vice president of Huawei terminal BG mobile phone product line, conducted in-depth technical interpretation and story sharing during R & D on XMAGE imaging technology and Beidou satellite short message function carried on Huawei Mate 50 series.
In July this year, Huawei officially announced the launch of its own image brand XMAGE, upgrading its image technology, style and experience. In September, Huawei Mate 50 series was equipped with ultra-optical XMAGE imaging system, realizing a number of technological breakthroughs. XMAGE focusing optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, image processing four imaging modules, from the four dimensions of optical and computer, establish the whole system of XMAGE imaging system.
Taking the optical system as an example, in the ultra-optical variable camera equipped with Huawei Mate 50 series, the variable aperture technology is adopted to realize the ten-speed adjustment of aperture at the physical level, bringing about the technical breakthrough of three optical systems.
The first is a breakthrough in technology. The entire lens module uses high-precision component design and assembly technology to create the physical large aperture of F1.4. The overall structure consists of 23 precision components, including innovative components such as high-precision annular magnetic field micro-control motors and physical aperture blades, with a maximum accuracy of 5-10μm.
The second is the breakthrough in light control ability. To realize the technical scheme of variable aperture, it is a technical difficulty of optical system to match the appropriate amount of light for different light environment and then bring the best imaging effect. In order to achieve accurate control of the amount of light entering, Huawei pioneered a high-precision full-process calibration detection scheme. After more than 20 versions of blade design and verification, coupled with a set of high-precision drive control algorithms, six metal aperture blades can be physically opened and closed to achieve the effect of 10 aperture changes.
The third is a breakthrough in aesthetic design. High reliable aesthetic design is the product gene of Huawei Mate series. Huawei pioneered the integrated metal coating solution for blade appearance. The blade adopts new high-modulus bright and high-strength aluminum material to further reduce the structural weight and realize 20 times strength improvement.
In this Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche design, a 3.2mm ultra-long mechanical stroke motor is also introduced, and for the first time in the industry, the dual-lens intra-group focusing architecture design can be used to perform secondary calibration by moving focus between lens groups, further improving the optical resolution in macro mode.
In terms of XMAGE image style, Huawei has also established its own color image style. The image color research team established by Huawei brings together 7 research institutes from China, Finland, Japan, Britain and other parts of the world, covering 8 research fields such as art, psychology, optics and color science. With the submitted works of 3.3 million + Huawei New Image Contest users as samples, Huawei's exclusive image style is established, which is characterized by realism, moisture, transparency and breathing.
In terms of color, Huawei also cooperates with the Color Research Institute of Tsinghua University Art and Science Research Center to extract the color tonality of XMAGE style based on the theoretical basis of "color science" system. On the basis of XMAGE primary colors, it does not change the inherent color of the object, only adjusts from the two dimensions of saturation and brightness, and presents bright and bright tonality while retaining the content of the photo, forming a complete systematic color tonality system.
The technical challenges overcome by Beidou satellite communication were followed by the introduction of the story behind Huawei Mate 50 series Beidou satellite messages. In July this year, Beidou 3 short message communication function gradually matured, and two-way information can be generated and received without communication network. At the technology development stage, Volkswagen smartphones face three major challenges in supporting Beidou satellite messages.
High loss. Huawei realizes short message communication with GEO satellite of Beidou-3 system, while GEO satellite has a wide coverage range and can better resist shadowing. However, the orbit altitude is about 36,000 kilometers, and the higher the satellite, the greater the transmission loss of the transmitted signal, and the more difficult it is for the signal transmitted from the ground to be received by the satellite.
Low-power, high-orbit satellite transmission signal loss is high, it requires the ground equipment signal transmission power is strong, but the thin body of the mobile phone determines that its power transmission device must be very small.
Low gain, compared to conventional satellite phone large transceiver antenna, mobile phone antenna equipment gain is also very low.
In order to solve these technical problems, Huawei has built a set of communication protocols that can meet the needs of mobile satellite communication, including a new communication system, protocol stack and application underlying protocol. First of all, facing the problem of insufficient hardware power, Huawei developed antenna design including high power PA, low loss RF link and consistent receiving and transmitting pattern in Mate 50 series, effectively improving the long-distance communication power of mobile phones and reducing the signal loss of communication between mobile phones and satellites.
At the algorithm level, Huawei has also designed a brand-new codec algorithm and introduced a high-gain Polar coding scheme to reduce interference and noise during satellite communication transmission and improve signal decoding rate.
After completing the technical preparation, Huawei also established a complete test and verification closed loop in order to verify the availability of satellite communication technology. A complete set of Beidou-3 end-to-end satellite-to-ground fusion communication verification system was established by sending signals to analog satellites through specially designed UX satellite search guidance and receiving signals by terminal equipment.
From project approval in December 2019 to feasibility analysis in April 2020, and laboratory connection in February 2021. After 18 months of off-site testing, 31 provinces, Gobi, desert, no man's land and other 7 major landscape environments, Beidou satellite message function was finally presented to mass consumers.
At the same time, Huawei also announced that Huawei Mate Xs 2 will also support Beidou satellite message function, and officially open public testing from November 5.
