CTOnews.com November 6, developer Gustave Monce released the initial Windows 11 package for Surface Duo 2, and Monce has previously released tools to install Windows 11 on the original Surface Duo, and now most of them work properly.

Gustave Monce released version 2211.16 of his Surface Duo 2 driver on GitHub. CTOnews.com warned that the version is still in the early stages of development and that there are still some problems with the new system, such as SoC has only one core job and touch support has not yet been implemented on dual screens.

This project is one of several projects in cooperation between Monce and the Surface Duo series. Since both devices have Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, it is possible to run Windows 11 on the ARM, but all other hardware and software, such as sensors, cameras, touchscreens, cellular networks, GPS, and so on, will have more or less problems, and these hardware will require drivers and a lot of testing.

Monce pointed out that this is only the first version of the project, although it is still in a very early stage, but "there are some cool things at work."

On the GitHub page of the project, you can see that the left display, thermal sensor, Hall sensor, Modern standby, USB C, button and charger all work properly, but in fact Snapdragon 888 has only one core to run.

Other aspects, such as mobile phone functions (phone, data, SMS, LTE), GPS, touch, pen digitizer, Wi-Fi, motor, Bluetooth, camera, NFC, etc., are all on the "not available" list. Therefore, the Windows 11 on Surface Duo 2 can only be said to be a fresh toy and cannot be used as a mainframe for the time being.
