Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, November 6, according to Nikkei, Japan plans to budget 350 billion yen (about 17.15 billion yuan or 2.38 billion US dollars) to cooperate with the United States in the development and research of the next generation semiconductors.

The latest bill also includes a budget of 1 trillion yen, which will be used to diversify the supply chain of batteries, permanent magnets and rare earths. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has announced that he will invest 3 trillion yen in next-generation areas, including semiconductors, and is expected to invest just under 1 trillion yen in batteries and robots.

CTOnews.com learned that the joint research center will be established at the end of this year, with the goal of developing and mass-producing 2-nanometer chip advanced semiconductors in the second half of the 1920s.

The names and other details of the participating Japanese companies will be announced this month. The University of Tokyo, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and the Institute of Scientific Research, as well as companies and research institutions from the United States and Europe will participate.

According to reports, this expenditure is included in the second supplementary budget bill for the current fiscal year, which will also include 450 billion yen for Japan's advanced semiconductor production center (if you include 617 billion yen in last year's supplementary budget, the expenditure on this work will exceed 1 trillion yen), and 370 billion yen will be used to ensure the essential materials for making chips.

The Japanese government has approved subsidies for TSMC, Meixia and Micron to build factories in Japan to produce semiconductors for data centers, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies.
