CTOnews.com, November 5 (Xinhua)-- according to Deadline, HBO today announced the end of the Westworld series.

Poster for the fourth season of Westworld, Jonathan Nolan, one of the show's creators, reportedly said at the New York Comic-Con Show last month that he wanted a fifth and final season, but was still in talks with HBO. Now, HBO has officially decided to cancel season 5.

Deadline says the ratings of Westworld have been declining. During Warner Bros. Discovery's third-quarter earnings call yesterday, CEO David Zaslav said the great experiment of creating things at all costs was over, stressing that he would not pay millions for a low-rated show.

CTOnews.com learned that the fourth season of the science fiction series Westworld launched HBO Max in June this year. The Westworld series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, with Jonathan Nolan as its chief director. The first season of Westworld premiered on October 2, 2016, the second season of Westworld aired on April 22, 2018, and the third season of Westworld aired on March 15, 2020.
