In an interview with PCWorld, Frank Azor, chief architect of AMD games solutions, gave some details about Radeon RX 7900 XTX and their new FSR 3 technology.

When referring to the pricing of RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT, Azor responded: "Let's be realistic, this is a $999 card. It's no match for 4090. After all, it's 60% more expensive. This is a 4080 bid. Let's get clear about what we're talking about."

In other words, users who buy AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX will not get the performance of Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. AMD thinks it has a good price-to-performance ratio, but it is priced at RTX 4080.

Azor called the RX 7900 XTX a "successful value proposition", so he was confident that even PC players who spent $1000 on a graphics card would like it.

Of course, the Nvidia RTX 4080 costs $1199, so the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card is much cheaper. Since the cancellation of the $899 RTX 4080 12GB, Nvidia doesn't seem to have much to do with the card.
