CTOnews.com, November 5, according to the Yangtze River Daily, Yang Shuzi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese mechanical engineering expert, educator, professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and former president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology), died in Wuhan on the evening of November 4 at the age of 89.

According to public data, Yang Shuzi was born in 1933 in Hukou, Jiangxi Province. he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991. Yang Shuzi is committed to the cross-research of mechanical engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence and other emerging disciplines, leading the team to open up a new field of intelligent manufacturing research in China, and is the first advocate of domestic intelligent manufacturing. He promoted the engineering application of time series analysis, realized flutter-free cutting, conquered international problems such as quantitative detection of broken wire of wire rope, and made an important contribution to the development of mechanical engineering in our country.

Yang Shuzi was president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology). He has won honorary titles such as national expert with outstanding contribution, model worker in national education system, advanced scientific and technological worker in national colleges and universities, national outstanding teacher, national May 1 Labor Medal and so on. He has successively won the National Natural Science Award, the National Invention Award, more than 20 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, 5 patents, published 14 monographs and teaching materials, and won 13 national, provincial and ministerial-level teaching and book important awards (including 3 first-class national excellent teaching achievements). He has served as the director of the steering Committee for Cultural quality Education in Colleges and Universities of the first, second and third sessions of the Ministry of Education.
