On November 5, German government subsidies for electric vehicles are expected to be reduced next year, which will be bad news for Tesla customers. However, Tesla has promised to provide compensation to specific customers to make up for the gap caused by the reduction in government subsidies.

Demand for Model 3 and Model Y in Germany is so strong that some orders may not be completed until 2023. As a result, even if cars are ordered today, some customers may not receive their cars until 2023, when the German government's electric car subsidy policy will have been adjusted.

However, Tesla has come up with a plan to deal with it. The company's Model Y bookers in Germany have been informed that Model Y customers who cannot pick up their cars before the end of the year will still receive current subsidies for electric vehicles from the German government, although Tesla will directly pay for the difference.

Tesla said in the notice that the company will be responsible for making up for the difference between the current subsidy in Germany and the adjusted subsidy next year, which is effective for orders ending on December 31, 2022.

The notice reads:

"due to the high delivery demand this year, if your Model 3 or Model Y delivery cannot be completed in 2022 and you are eligible for this compensation, we will compensate the difference in 2023. To receive compensation, please order Model 3 or Model Y by December 31, 2022."

In 2023, the environmental dividend will be reduced. We want to make sure that you benefit from the high subsidy of Model 3, even if you won't receive your vehicle until 2023 because of the high demand this year. If you are eligible for compensation, we will also pay the subsidy difference between 2022 and 2023. At the moment, you don't need to do anything else. "

Germany is one of the most important car markets in Europe, and it is difficult for foreign carmakers to break into it because it has many powerful local companies, such as Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Tesla has made a lot of efforts in Germany in the early days, but it is now expected to better operate the factory there.

Last year, Tesla delivered nearly 40, 000 cars in Germany. But in a third-quarter earnings call, Tesla announced his goal to increase sales to 80,000 vehicles by 2022. Given that Tesla delivered less than 35000 vehicles as of September and already owns the best-selling car in Germany, there is still a long way to go to achieve this goal.

However, one factor that may help Tesla's goal of breaking the fourth-quarter delivery record in Germany is that from next year, Germany will significantly reduce subsidies for electric vehicles with a starting price of less than 40,000 euros, from 6000 euros to 4500 euros, and subsidies for electric vehicles with starting prices of more than 40, 000 euros from 5000 euros to 3000 euros.

Usually, lowering or removing electric car subsidies will prompt more people to buy vehicles, which is part of the reason why Tesla believes he can deliver more than 40, 000 vehicles in Germany in the fourth quarter.

Recently, Tesla's achievements in Germany are impressive. Just recently, the company introduced two new car paints for Model Y produced at its Berlin plant, called Fast Silver (Quicksilver) and Midnight Cherry Red (Midnight Cherry Red), which effectively replace Multi-layer Red (Red Multi-Coat) and Midnight Metal Silver (Midnight Silver Metallic), both of which are more affordable.

It is reported that the demand for the new color Model Y appears to be strong, and the waiting time for the midnight cherry red version of Model Y has been postponed to July 2023 at the earliest. Recent photos of the Berlin factory complex also show that the battery production building at the facility appears to be nearing completion.
