CTOnews.com, November 5 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft will stop providing Microsoft 365 subscribers with the ability to use Outlook.com email services through custom domain names such as yourname@example.com. The company has started sending emails to Microsoft 365 users, saying it will no longer provide support for personalized email addresses from November 30 next year.

Microsoft also officially announced the change on a support page: "as of November 30, 2023, Microsoft 365 individual users or Microsoft 365 home users will no longer be able to create a new personalized email address associated with their Outlook.com inbox."

If the user has set up a personalized e-mail address in Outlook.com, he will be able to continue to use it until the user deletes it himself. Microsoft explained: "if you remove your personalized email address from your Outlook.com account after November 30, 2023, you will no longer be able to add it back. In this case, the only option to continue to use Outlook with a custom domain name is to use the Microsoft business plan."

CTOnews.com learned that this is not the first time Microsoft has cancelled the use of Outlook.com services with custom domain names. There was a time when Microsoft allowed users to do this for free through the now obsolete Windows Live Domains service. Later, Microsoft partnered with GoDaddy to provide personalized email addresses to Microsoft 365 individuals and home users, but perhaps the usage rate was so low that Microsoft chose not to continue to provide this feature.
