Twitter is reported to have temporarily closed its office today as part of a global layoff plan, Beijing time reported.

Twitter said employees will be informed of the results of the layoffs at 9 a.m. Pacific time on Friday (12:00 Beijing time). Twitter, which currently has more than 7000 employees, is expected to cut about 50 per cent of its workforce this time.

At present, Twitter's office in London's Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly Circus) is empty and there are no employees in sight. Inside the office building, all Twitter logos have been erased. Security personnel said the office was under renovation.

Earlier today, Twitter confirmed in an email to employees that it would lay off the company.

Twitter said that for employees not affected by the layoffs, the company will notify the results through their office email; for employees affected by the layoffs, the results will be notified through their personal emails.

Twitter also said that after the company's office is closed, it will suspend access to any documents such as access cards to ensure the security of every employee as well as Twitter system and customer data.

As a result of the layoffs, Twitter was also sued by employees today for failing to notify them long enough in advance as required by law.
