According to Twitter employees, they received an email sent to the whole company a few hours ago. The email confirms Twitter will lay off employees this Friday.

According to the e-mail, every Twitter employee will receive an e-mail about whether they are staying or going by 9 a.m. Pacific time on Friday (12 midnight Friday Beijing time).

The email also said that all Twitter offices will be temporarily closed and all internal website visits will be suspended. Employees currently in the office should return home as soon as possible.

In addition, Twitter said in the email that employees are prohibited from discussing confidential company information or policies on relevant social media.

Twitter Email Team:

To keep Twitter on a healthy path, we're going to have a global layoff on Friday. We know this will affect some of the people who make valuable contributions to Twitter. Unfortunately, this is necessary to ensure the success of the company.

Considering that our staff is scattered and we want to inform each employee as soon as possible, we will communicate to each employee by email. By 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, everyone will receive an email with the subject line "Your post on Twitter." Please check your email promptly, including spam.

If your work is not affected, you will receive notification via company email.

If your work is affected, you will be notified of the follow-up via personal email.

If you do not receive an email from twitter-hr@ by 5 p.m. Friday, November 4, please email peoplequestions @ twitter.com.

To ensure the safety of every employee, Twitter system and customer data, the company offices will be temporarily closed and all internal website access will be suspended. If you are at the office or on your way to the office, please return home.
