CTOnews.com, November 4 (Xinhua)-- according to a report released today by Counterpoint Research, MediaTek has been at the forefront of the global and Chinese smartphone chip market share in the past eight quarters, climbing from 33% in the third quarter of 2020 to 39% in the second quarter of 2022.

The report points out that the average selling price of MediaTek's smartphone chips has been on an upward trend over the past two years, benefiting from the application of advanced processes in 5G mobile phone chips and flagship chips.

CTOnews.com learned that MediaTek led the Chinese smartphone SoC market with 42 per cent market share in the second quarter of 2022, followed by Qualcomm, according to Counterpoint Research, who learned of Q2's global smartphone chip sales share from 2020 to 2022. MediaTek's market share has more than doubled compared with the second quarter of 2020. MediaTek's share of head smartphone makers including OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi has grown over the past three years.

According to analysts on the sales share of Q1 smartphone chips in China from Q2 to 2022, MediaTek's share of China's high-end Android smartphone market (wholesale price is more than $500) has increased significantly in the first half of 2022. (about 3635 yuan). In addition, MediaTek plans to launch a new generation of flagship chips in the fourth quarter of 2022 to continue its growth in the high-end mobile phone market.
