Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

At 10:00 on the evening of November 1, 2022, Beijing time, "Ancient Scroll OL" (The Elder Scrolls Online, hereinafter referred to as "ESO") announced that it had officially supported PC simplified Chinese, and the mainframe Chinese would be added later. In addition to the simplified Chinese in the game, the official website of ESO Jane Zhong is also online.

As an orthodox sequel to the "Ancient Scrolls" series, ESO has maintained a steady stream of content updates since its release in 2014, and the size of its players is not to be underestimated. However, for domestic players (especially veteran fans), the regret of ESO has always been that it has not added official Chinese support, which leads to a high threshold for Chinese users to go to Timrell.

And this time after many years of full Chinese support (including text, subtitles and UI), the total number of words is more than 8.75 million, for domestic veteran rolling players is a "late but arrived" news. Recently, we also interviewed Rich Lambert, the creative director of Ancient Scroll OL, to talk about the promotion of the simplified Chinese version and whether Timriel is still worth visiting by new players.

The following is the interview (Q: travel Research Agency A: Richie Lambert):

Q: because of language problems, "Ancient Scroll OL" (ESO) has always been almost insulated from the Chinese mass market. In June this year, it was officially announced that it would add Chinese support to it. How did this move come about?

A: in the past eight years, we have spent a lot of time and energy trying to reach the best level of ESO. We have finally reached a stage where we have a lot of game content, and we are relatively satisfied with the current state of the game. This allows us to focus more on introducing new employees and expanding into different markets.

Q:ESO has been in operation for eight years and has a huge amount of content. does this make it difficult to localize Chinese? If so, what are the specific aspects?

A:ESO now has more than 8 million words, including more than 200,000 lines of spoken dialogue. This is an arduous task that requires great efforts. In addition, whenever you do a translation, you need it to be true-you can't just replace it word for word and expect the translation to be reasonable. Attention to detail requires a lot of time and energy.

Q: compared with other mainstream MMO games on the market (World of Warcraft, final Fantasy 14, Guild Wars 2), what do you think is the biggest feature of the current ESO in game content? How did it attract both MMO players and fans of the "Ancient Scrolls" series?

A:ESO is huge-with a large number of different systems, more than 800 hours of story content, a wealth of collectable elements, and a lot of customized content. It is difficult to pick out a single feature from all this. In other words, one of the things that ESO does better than any other game is that you can play with anyone at any time, regardless of level or camp choice. I can be a brand new player, I can play with a friend who has been playing for eight years, and we can all make meaningful progress in our characters. It's great to be able to play with friends without any restrictions or obstacles.

Q: for fans of the "Ancient Scrolls" series, the worldview is undoubtedly the most attractive part of ESO, such as the 2017 DLC "Morning Wind" can very much hit the feelings of old players. But this year's DLC ISLE is an area that is "unfamiliar" to most gamers. What do you think is its charm? Is Takashima a good opportunity to get into the hole for new players?

A: I think Takashima is one of the best places for beginners to start. This story is very approachable, and you don't need to know anything about ancient scrolls to understand it. It focuses on the more traditional European medieval setting-armored knights, aristocratic houses, politics and mystery. This is an excellent introduction to the Timriel world and its legends.

Q: do you think ESO, which has been in operation for eight years, has enough potential to tap in terms of game content? Will brand-new designs such as Tales of Tribute emerge after that?

A:ESO is already huge. Plus all our other systems (PVP, houses, handicrafts, antiques, tribute, trials, etc.), there are thousands of hours of work to do in the game. We have been looking forward to continuing to contribute to the world and will continue to do so in the future.

Q: with the addition of Chinese localization support, it is believed that more Chinese players who have previously been interested in ESO will try this long-lasting game. Is there anything you would like to say to Chinese players?

A: I just want to welcome you all to Timrell's world! Slow down and explore the world and its many wonders-this is an amazing place, and our community is one of the best in the game field.

Thanks to Ricky Lambert for being able to interview us, we also wish the simplified Chinese version of Ancient Scroll OL can get better results and bring a better gaming experience for Chinese players.
