Aliyun said that the newly released Xuan tie C908 processor has achieved an energy efficiency breakthrough in the RISC-V architecture. Xuan tie C908 supports multi-core and multi-cluster architecture, adopts high-efficiency 9-level double-generator sequential pipeline, and has a main frequency of 2 GHz.

Specifically, Xuan tie C908 upgraded the micro-architecture, adopted the RISC-V Vector 1.0 standard for the first time, and added DOT instructions based on the standard; introduced the INT4 data type; comprehensively optimized the AI operator and algorithm library, and improved the performance of typical neural network computing by more than 50% compared with the previous generation products.

According to reports, Xuan tie C908 also surpassed Xuan tie C906, which won the championship in AI test MLPerf Tiny V0.7, and improved its performance by 3.5 times in image classification tasks. Based on Xuan tie C908, Jiannan Technology has started chip research and development.

This year, based on the high-performance SoC prototype "Shadow 1520", Pingtou completed the adaptation of the dragon lizard operating system, marking the first milestone in the world that the RISC-V architecture is compatible with cloud operating systems. CTOnews.com learned that at the 2022 Cloud Conference, Pingtou announced that it had completed the first adaptation of RISC-V and the community version of the Universe operating system, and successfully ran the desktop environment and a variety of office and development software.

At present, Pingtou has completed the in-depth adaptation of RISC-V to international mainstream and domestic operating systems, such as RTOS, Yocto Linux, Android, dragon lizard, and Tongxin.
