CTOnews.com, November 3 (Xinhua)-- Volvo reported today that it sold 54317 cars in October, up 6.89 percent from a year earlier. The company's range of new energy models accounted for 36.8 per cent of sales last month, while pure electric vehicles accounted for 15 per cent of total sales.

Volvo said the reason is that basic demand remains strong, especially for RECHARGE series pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Specifically, Volvo's sales in Europe fell 0.4 per cent to 22030 vehicles in October, up 37 per cent to 15048 in China and 8.9 per cent to 9478 in the US.

Volvo said sales in China rose 36.7 per cent to 15048 vehicles in October, with the Recharge accounting for 6.1 per cent of total sales.

CTOnews.com learned that Volvo retail sales reached 483304 between January and October, down 16.9 per cent from a year earlier. European sales reached 22030 in October, down 0.4 per cent from the same period last year. Sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 64.9% of the region's total sales in the month.

Volvo sold 9478 vehicles in the US that month, up 8.9 per cent from October last year, with the Recharge accounting for 26.7 per cent of total sales.

Volvo's top-selling model this month was the XC60, with sales of 17531 vehicles (2021: 15399), followed by XC40, with 14883 (2021: 13987) and XC90, with 7651 (2021: 8639).
