Beijing, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) British mobile game developer King and US technology company Pixis will fly at least 500 drones equipped with LED lights over New York City today to promote the game Candy Legend, according to foreign media websites.

The Candy Crush Legend drone lighting show will take off from New Jersey, stay in the air and hover for 10 minutes. It is reported that drones are completely banned in New York City. For the event to be successful, Pixis must also obtain an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration and a special permission from New Jersey to operate.

The flight plan has angered critics. New York Senator Brad Holmann said it was "outrageous" to have drones all over the sky and that he was considering legislation to ban such advertisements. The Audubon Society for the Conservation of Birds in New York City is also concerned that drones may interfere with bird flight patterns.
