According to officials, the EL-5 is a flash that uses the new multi-function boot interface and can be connected to the EOS R6 Mark II. The flash uses the same lithium battery as the Canon flash SPEEDLITE EL-1 and has the same basic performance as the SPEEDLITE EL-1. The maximum flash index is GN.60. Due to the use of lithium batteries, it can not only return power quickly, but also support about 350 consecutive flashes.

EL-5 has AF auxiliary lighting function, automatic brightness adjustment function and modeling lamp. EL-5 supports direct control of the flash function assigned to the RF lens control ring, as well as multi-lamp system control through a smartphone application, allowing users to control the settings of each flash. Users can manipulate and adjust these settings through their smartphones without having to manipulate cameras and flashes. This is useful for multi-light flash shooting, COSPLAY selfies, flash shooting in an inaccessible place, or when shooting assistants are limited.

EL-5 's shell seams, movable parts and operating parts are sealed with sealing materials, with the same level of dustproof and waterproof performance as Canon EOS R5.
