This is the first demonstration project of urban (suburban) railway transformation in Shaanxi Province, and it has become a new shortcut for Changyi District to connect with the main urban area.

Xihu Railway was completed in 1956, mainly for freight transport, and operated suburban passenger trains at the same time. Due to the weakening demand of passenger transport market and the separation of lines from cities and other factors, Xihu railway stopped passenger transport service in 2000. In December 2020, the government decided to upgrade and renovate the line and operate urban passenger trains by public transportation.

In order to integrate rail transit into the life of the people in Qianyi district as soon as possible, at the initial stage of opening, the line was put into user county and Afanggong south passenger station. The train temporarily used 25G passenger cars of China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group, and optimized the interior of the carriages. Xi'an Rail Group is responsible for passenger transport services, China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group is responsible for dispatching and directing, and traffic organization. During the trial operation, the passenger service hours will be from 7:00 to 19:40, and freight trains will be run during the rest of the period. Passenger trains operate in eight pairs a day, using a single interchange, and the whole running time is about 25 minutes. The morning and evening peak runs 3 pairs of trains with an interval of 1 hour and 10 minutes, while Pingfeng runs 2 pairs of trains with an interval of 2 hours and 20 minutes. In the later stage, the interval and operation time will be appropriately adjusted according to passenger flow demand.

CTOnews.com learned that the Xihu railway fare system adopts the "same network and the same price" mode as the Xi'an subway. The fare for the whole journey from Afanggong South to Huxian Station is 6 yuan, and the fare preferential policy is consistent with the existing Xi'an subway lines. At the initial stage of the opening, public passengers can use one-way tickets, QR code scanning, and facial scanning through the gate, and the Changan Tong card ride function will be turned on later.

In the next step, Xi'an Rail Group will speed up the construction of the transfer channel between Afanggong South Station and Metro Line 5, and realize the "pay zone transfer" with the subway as soon as possible.
