This is the 14th million kilowatt hydrogenerator unit that Baihetan Hydropower Station has put into operation.

CTOnews.com learned that the Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. It is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the world. It has installed a total of 16 hydroelectric generating units independently developed by China and the largest one million kilowatts per unit capacity in the world, with a total installed capacity of 1600 kilowatts. Unit 11, which is put into operation, is located in the right bank powerhouse of Baihetan Hydropower Station, with a unit capacity of 1 million kilowatts.

After the Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully completed and put into operation, it will become the second largest hydropower station in the world after the three Gorges Hydropower Station, with an average annual generating capacity of 62.443 billion kilowatt hours, about 19.68 million tons of standard coal and 52 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

At that time, the three Gorges Group will complete and put into operation 110 hydropower units in the mainstream of the Yangtze River, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts, and form the world's largest clean energy corridor with six power stations, including Wudong Germany, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, three Gorges and Gezhouba.
