CTOnews.com November 2 news, Liaoning Hongyanhe nuclear power plant nuclear heating demonstration project officially put into operation on November 1, this project is the northeast region's first nuclear heating project, covering Dalian City Wafangdian Hongyanhe Town, benefiting nearly 20,000 local residents.

The nuclear heating demonstration project of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian, Dalian City, with a planned heating area of 242,400 square meters and a maximum heating load of 12.77MW. Steam extraction from steam turbine of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is used as heat source to replace the original 12 coal-fired boiler houses in Hongyanhe Town to realize clean heating in Hongyanhe Town. The project will build nearly 10 kilometers of primary pipe network, 5.7 kilometers of secondary pipe network and 4 new heat exchange stations.

▲ Source: According to the calculation of China Guangzhou Nuclear Power Group, after the project is put into operation, the standard coal consumption will be reduced by 5726 tons every year, carbon dioxide emission will be reduced by 14,100 tons, smoke dust will be reduced by more than 209 tons, sulfur dioxide will be reduced by more than 60 tons, nitrogen oxides will be reduced by more than 85 tons and ash will be reduced by 2621 tons, with remarkable environmental protection benefits.

The 4 units of Phase I Project adopted CPR1000 nuclear power technology with independent intellectual property rights of CGNPC, and all of them were put into commercial operation in September 2016; the 2 units of Phase II Project adopted ACPR1000 nuclear power technology fully upgraded by CGNPC. In June 2022, 6 units of Phase I and Phase II Projects of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station were fully completed and put into operation.
