Officials say the EOS R6 Mark II is the successor to Canon's full-frame micro camera EOS R6, which was released in 2020. The EOS R6 Mark II has greatly upgraded continuous shooting, focusing, subject detection, video functions and shooting fun based on the EOS R6.

CTOnews.com learned that the EOS R6 Mark II uses a full-frame CMOS image sensor newly developed by Canon with about 24.2 million effective pixels, and works with a high-performance DIGIC X digital image processor with a new image algorithm, which can not only meet the high-speed continuous shooting of full-pixel photos with a maximum of about 40 pictures per second, but also has a picture resolution comparable to the EOS 5D Mark IV with about 30.4 million effective pixels. Although the pixels are improved compared with EOS R6, the sensitivity performance has not decreased. EOS R6 Mark II often maintains the highest sensitivity at ISO 102400 when taking photos, and can still maintain the sensitivity at ISO 25600 when shooting short films.

According to officials, the continuous shooting performance of the EOS R6 Mark II has been greatly improved compared with the EOS R6, with a maximum continuous shooting speed of about 40 shots per second under the electronic shutter, which is twice that of the EOS R6. High-speed electronic shutter can be used for high-speed continuous shooting in wild animals, theatres, concerts, golf matches and other scenes that are not suitable for shutter sounds. When using mechanical shutter or electronic front curtain shutter, the maximum continuous shooting speed can reach about 12 frames per second.

In addition to the electronic shutter high-speed continuous shooting performance, Canon is also equipped with RAW continuous shooting mode in the EOS full-frame camera for the first time, supporting high-speed continuous shooting of up to 30 RAW images per second. Moreover, a single image can be selected from a group of captured RAW images to be extracted and saved separately, or it can be converted into a JPEG image or a HEIF image to save. At the same time, the EOS R6 Mark II is the first model of the EOS full-frame camera with a pre-shooting function, which records an image about half a second before the shutter button is pressed. It can not only capture fleeting moments such as birds taking off, but also capture moments that were difficult to capture in the past, such as changes in facial expressions or movements, in the process of shooting characters and sweeping the streets.

EOS R6 Mark II uses an animal detection algorithm based on deep learning techniques to detect and identify the eyes, face and body of cat / dog / bird animals. EOS R6 Mark II further extends the animal detection algorithm and expands the range of animals that can be detected. A new "horse" has been added to the type of animal detection, which can accurately detect the horse's body, face, eyes and track it. Even if there is a rider on a horse, it can focus on the horse. If you do not want to focus on the position of the leg, but want to shoot the subject with longitudinal depth from the front, you can still focus effectively by detecting the subject's face or eyes.

The EOS R6 Mark II can test sports cars and motorcycles, including Formula one, GT, rally, road and off-road motorcycles. When testing this type of car, the focus equation driver's helmet or roofed car can be tested. On this basis, EOS R6 Mark II adds two means of transportation that can detect "train" and "plane". When testing the "train", the cab of the focused high-speed train can be detected. In addition to the high-speed train, the overall body of the train can also be detected; when testing the "aircraft", the focus cockpit can be detected, or the aircraft body can be detected, which can effectively avoid the focus deviating from the background sky.

In addition to expanding the detectable recognition range, EOS R6 Mark II also has a strong focusing performance, with a maximum focusing range of 100% (horizontal) × 100% (vertical) sensor area, supporting up to 1053 focus areas, with a minimum focusing brightness of EV-6.5, and a strong autofocusing ability in dark environment. Accurate autofocus can be carried out in an environment where there is not enough light or in an environment that is difficult to be recognized by the naked eye, such as a dark room. When using telephoto zoom or ultra-telefocus lenses, even if the maximum aperture is reduced to f / 22 when using a multiplier, high-precision autofocus can still be performed.

The EOS R6 Mark II will go on sale later this month at a price of 16499 yuan per fuselage.
